SubscriberIs it possible to simulate a pre-strained material directly without any pre-simulation? We have conducted uniaxial prestraining on a material and would now like to run another simulation.
The major and minor strains from our previous operation are available to us.
Thanks!

Ansys EmployeeI noticed that you posted in the LS-Dyna channel. I don’t know how to do this in LS-Dyna, but I can tell you how to do it in the Ansys Mechanical Solver.
The APDL command INISTATE allows you to assign an initial state of strain (or stress) on elements in the model that will be present when the solver starts.

SubscriberUnfortunately, we need to use LS-Dyna for our project. Is it possible to simulate such a case in LS-Dyna? Thank you for your help.

Ansys EmployeePlease check the *INITIAL_STRESS and *INITIAL_STRAIN cards, along with their respective options, in the LS-DYNA Keywords Manual. You can access it from this link.
