ANSYS Optislang with ANSYS Fluent inside of Workbench

      Hello all!

I am doing a research project for my Master's Degree for optimizing a water cooled heat sink.  I am using Fluent with the Fluent meshing inside of ANSYS mechanical.  When I try to run my optimization loop in Optislang standalone, the run always stops at the Meshing step and just sits there.   From doing some research online this appears that it may be because Fluent is asking for some input but I am running it in the background and there is no way to see this prompt.    Does anyone have any pointers on how to do this design loop?

Fluent Meshing in Mechanical? Do you mean you're using Ansys Meshing (think that's flagged as Mechanical) with Fluent's mesh settings?

Not sure then about Optislng as that's generally run outside of Workbench for full effect.

I am using Fluent with Fluid Meshing in Workbench.  The meshing is handled inside of Fluent using Fluents watertight workflow.  I am then running Optislang in the standalone program, and using this to reference the workbench project.

Why are you trying to run Workbench from Optislang? Isn't the reason for using Optislang to have full control over each part of the process? So you'd run meshing, solver etc from Optislang.

I think you are mistaken on how things work. I have used Optislang this way in the past to optimize mechanical simulations I set up in workbench.  Optislang provides the inputs and feeds them to the other programs.

OK, I'll leave it with you. Note, Fluent is not native to Workbench so is more usually run in standalone mode.
