SubscriberHi,
I'm just wondering if anyone would be willing to critique a static structural load case I'm analysing; the final max stress result is higher than I expected.Â
The part is a 4340 quenched and tempered alloy under 10 tonne compression:
Â
To circumvent student licence limitations I have modelled one sixteenth of the part:
I've been having issues getting results to converge. I have implemented edge sizing and refinement on the edge of the z-axis zero displacement constraint as the max always occurs here.Â
Results:
The maximum stress always occurs on this boundary condition curve and seems to shift location along the curve with each iteration of the convergence tool. The max is an order of magnitude greater than stresses everywhere else in the part. These points make me think there may be something wrong with my boundary conditions which are leading to inaccurate results.Â
If anyone has any input as to whether these results may not be accurate or critiques of my method I'd greatly appreciate it!

Here's a dropbox link to the workbench file for reference:

Thanks, Chris.Â
