SubscriberI am currently performing a rotordynamics analysis in ANSYS and would like to inquire about the appropriate modeling approach for representing blade effects using added mass.
In my model, the rotor blades are not explicitly modeled. Instead, their mass and inertia effects are incorporated using an added mass approach. Specifically, I am applying the added mass via Remote Attachment.
In this context, I have the following questions:
When defining the behavior of the remote attachment, would it be more appropriate to set it as Rigid or Deformable for rotordynamics analysis?
From a physical and rotordynamic standpoint, which option better represents the blade mass contribution to the shaft system?
Alternatively, is there a more recommended method in ANSYS to account for blade mass and inertia (e.g., using point mass elements or distributed inertia) that would provide more accurate results?
My goal is to ensure that the added mass representation accurately captures the influence of the blades on critical speeds and dynamic response.
I would appreciate your guidance on the most appropriate modeling approach.
