SubscriberHello,
I am a BE Mechanical Engineering student working on my final year (DE) project.
My project topic is “Manufacturing of an Automobile Air Filter using 3D Printing Technology.”
I want to perform CFD simulation in ANSYS Fluent to analyze:
Airflow through the air filter
Pressure drop across the filter
I have modeled the filter region as a porous medium to simplify the internal geometry.
My current setup:
Solver: Pressure-based, steady-state
Fluid: Air
Inlet: Velocity inlet (10 m/s)
Outlet: Pressure outlet (0 Pa)
Turbulence model: k-ε
Porous zone applied to filter region
I would like guidance on:
Correct porous media parameters (porosity, viscous resistance)
Whether my boundary conditions are suitable for an automotive air filter
Best practices for mesh and result validation
Any suggestions or reference examples would be very helpful Thank you.

You started a new post in the General Mechanical channel, but your interest is in building a CFD simulation so you would be better off posting in the Fluids channel.
