contact body views not displaying properly.

  Below is an example of proper display - in body views, only the bodies of contact are displayed, seperatly.
  in a model i opened (and cannot share picture) the body views show all the bodies as tranparent or solid color.
  the contact is the same as below, one body for contact and one for target.
  same issue for beam connections.
  in other models everything is fine.
  help?
