October 21, 2025 at 6:13 pms2671695 SubscriberI am trying to import a simple extruded shape into LS-Dyna whilst keeping it as a solid. However the model always opens as a hollow shell when in LS-prepost. Does anyone know how to keep it as a complete solid.

October 22, 2025 at 2:36 pms2671695 SubscriberHey Erik, for the simulation I am trying to run I need the object to not be a shell with the inside being hollow but as a filled solid. The AI assistant mentions a setting in Moldex3D for file transformations like "Solid to Solid" and "Solid to Shell" in version 4.9 but I could not find Moldex3D in this version of LS-Prepost.

October 23, 2025 at 6:44 amErik Kostson Ansys EmployeeHi Ultimately we need FE/mesh. That is the way it is in LSPP (a solid is a collection of faces) – we still can mesh this (volume/solid made of bunch of faces), with 3D solid elements (LSPP first meshes the faces/skin and then the interior volume with 3D solid elements). See tutorials on meshing in LSPP. You can also use WB LS-Dyna to create the mesh as .k file and import that into LSPP. All the best Erik
