Unable to attach geometry

      Hi

I have read and tried all sort of ways to import geometry to do simulation in Steady-State Thermal. For instance, I tried to open the Workbench as Administrator and changed CAD Configuration Manager to all user. Yet it is not successful.

Info: In the beginning, I managed to do attach for once after installed the software. However it didn't go well following days.

      Please advise.

Ansys staff can not download images on the student portal, so if you want to reach a larger audience to get answers from, please insert the images inline.

Also, please mention the file format that you are using. Have you tried to open it SpaceClaim first?

      Hi Aniket,

I have even tried to click 'SCDM or Discovery SpaceClaim' in CAD Config Manager. Yet still failed.

      Please advise.

Are you able to import a simple cube created in SpaceClaim to Mechanical? Error there says no valid bodies, what do you see in SpaceClaim?

      Hi Aniket,

      Thank you for your reply.

Actually I was trying to import 2D rectangle body from SpaceClaim to Mechanical, but failed. It shows error message as such.

      Please advise.

It seems like you don't have an available license. It is possible that you had your original model open while trying a 2D rectangle. Close all workbench sessions. (restart your machine if possible) And then try the 2D rectangle body.

If that succeeds, then grab a screenshot of SpaceClaim window of your actual geometry and post it inline

      Hi Aniket,

Surprisingly I can import simple 3D in Mechanical. Refer to attached picture below. However it doesn't work for 2D.

      Please advise

You don't have a body in SpaceClaim you only have curves. Select all curves and use "Fill" tool to create a surface. that should come through.

      Yes, Aniket.

I managed to import the entity (surface) to Mechanical now. It's solved.

      Thank you very much.
