Bolt thread geometry Correction

Hi All I am having some trouble in defining the geometry Correction with bolt thread method. I have a very simple two plate lap joint with bolt and but to hold them together. I just created them to learn this method. When I try using geometry Correction to add bolt thread to the shank of the bolt and but, I have the orientation row with programme controlled. But it's yellowed out( which means it's not defined I guess). Not sure why it's not automatically getting the orientation.
Anyone faced this issue before? Would be nice find some solution.

      Hi!

When the Orientation is Program Controlled, what exactly is yellowed out? Is it the Mean Pitch Diameter, the Pitch Distance that are yellowed out? You need to define these parameters even if the Orientation is Program Controlled, since a given bolt in a given direction can have different Mean Pitch Diameters and the threads can have different Pitch Distances. The diameter of the cylinder representing the bolt is the Major Diameter. So you need to define the Mean Pitch Diameter and the Pitch (distance traveled by a bolt in 1 complete rotation). The definition for both these terms can be found in any standard machine design textbook.

      Hope this helps,

      Sai

I am having the same trouble as richie046; even after defining a Mean Pitch Diameter, Pitch Distance, and Thread Angle as default 60°, the Program Controlled box remains yellowed out. Did anyone find a solution for this?
      Cheers
