SubscriberWe have an Ansys license for the University, and a student is asking how many cores they can use for a solution.
Is there something I can see in the license file that would indicate this?Â
Thanks
Peter

Ansys EmployeeHi Peter,
Based on your entitlements in the Ansys Licensing Portal for your Account ###1211, you have the following entitlement. Â
# Products licensed in this file:
# 1. Ansys GRANTA EduPack Introductory (50): 1 task(s) Lease expiring 31-Dec-2025
INCREMENT granta_edupack ansyslmd 9999.9999 31-dec-2025 50 \ÂI don't see any HPC licenses on the license file. I think with all Ansys products, it supports running on 4 cores per job.

Ansys EmployeeIf you check the license file, you will have the following lines:Â
- INCREMENT anshpc ansyslmd 9999.9999 06-oct-2025 450 \Â
- INCREMENT optishpc ansyslmd 9999.9999 06-oct-2025 300 673963B8ABCD \Â
- INCREMENT rocky_hpc ansyslmd 9999.9999 06-oct-2025 450 59D6562B5DE0 \Â Â
Each hpc license allows running on an additional (1) core/thread >>Ansys HPC Licensing Calculator. e.g. Ansys Speos can run a single (1) simulation up to a maximum of 304 cores/threads (4 from the solve license + 300 from opticshpc licenses).Â

SubscriberHello
after looking at the license this is correct.
so with this are you saying that a user can run a min 1 core/thread up to 450?Â
or since the min ansys allows a user to run a min 4 cores per job with this a user now can run 5 min only?
ThanksPeter

Ansys EmployeeYou can run 1 SPEOS simulation job using 1 core up to a maximum of 304 cores and other Ansys applications that is supported by your entitlements from 1 core up to a maximum of 454 cores.
Or if you have 25 concurrent SPEOS users/simulations, each SPEOS user/simulation can run from 1 core up to a maximum of 16 cores [(300/25=12) + 4].Â
Hope this helps.Â
