Hello, I'm trying to generate a file in Matlab that could be readed in MAPDL. I encountered with the next situation.

When I'm trying to stablish the contact between elements I noticed that the the value for the field 8 - the element shape flag its negative when its a target or a contact elements.

I noticed that in the case of the four-nodes elements the value of the element shape flag its the opposite value of ID's element that contains the sames nodes.

In the case of the one-node element, the value is the opposite value ID's element that contain that node. I can't figure out exactly to which element have correspondance, since not only one, but also some other element share the same node.

But this affects in some way at the generation of the mesh? What for its needed?
