SubscriberHi everyone,
I am making the mesh for a 3D wing. With the appropriate local sizings I am able to achieve a good quality surface mesh, by "good" I mean from both visual inspection and quantitatively (skewness < 0.6 everwhere).
However when I generate the volume mesh I get a very low volumetric mesh quality (orthogonal quality < 1e-2 for a lot of cells) almost everywhere on the wing. I get a very bad quality when I add the boundary layer refinement that I want (first layer thickess = 1 micrometer) and I noticed that the smaller the first layer thickness, the lower is the quality. Inserting an "Improve volume mesh" task does not lead to improvements. Furthermore I don't get any Geometry Errors/warnings.
Does someone have any experience with that? Some suggestions to improve the mesh?Â
Thanks in advance.

Ansys EmployeeHello,Â
based on your description, your boundary layer mesh might be too aggressive for the existing surface mesh. You might need to refine your surface mesh in order to allow such fine first layer thickness.
