Obtaining Velocity (y-axis) vs Time(x-axis) plot from ANSYS DPM

      Hello,
      ANSYS Topic: Discrete Phase Modeling
Question: I am trying to figure out how to make a plot for the velocity of a single particle over time. I can create an animation where the velocity is shown, however I don't know how to export a file that shows all the time step iterations with the time increasing and the y-velocity updating as the iterations go. Is it possible to extract this data in ANSYS?

Below are the current settings I have:

Look in the Reporting section of the Particle Tracks panel. The exact settings vary slightly for steady & transient, but allow you to Report to > File for further processing.

Thank you. I obtained a file but it seems it only recorded when time is equal to 4 seconds. How can I change this so that it records the entire simulation?

I saw that reporting only has the option for current positions, does this mean I can’t track previous y-velocities and append those to the new positions after the iterations have passed?

I found some help forums regarding this but they have an option for step by step instead of current positions, did ANSYS change this option in the new versions and is it the same as step by step?

Should I change something under calculation activities? or in Run Calculation?

It means you need to track during the run. Fluent doesn't retain all of the "old" flow data, the .dat file only contains "now" so if you didn't activate monitors etc the old values are lost.

Not sure what you found (and I'm not permitted to follow links) but the functionality is mostly unchanged in recent versions. There will be differences in old builds but I can't remember when the current functionality was added.

Okay, so do I have to activate a monitor that will create a file for the velocity of the entire simulation?

You may need to set the reporting off at the beginning and then run. I've not tried recording DPM tracks like that before as the output files would be very large and need too much additional processing. Have a play with the options and see how it behaves.
