Fluent Material Properties Missing

      hello all,

      I am attempting to add a material with custom properties as a solid to fluent. I've watched a few tutorials on Youtube, and the address the issue by right-clicking on the "solid" tab and selecting new, then adding the new material properties in the window displayed. However, the window displayed in my version of Fluent is blank, and properties in the Fluent database cannot be edited. I would appreciate any guidance that can be provided on this issue.

      Strange behavior !!  BTW, what is the version  ??

      One thing you COULD try is to COPY any existing material from the (solid) material database -

      Then edit the properties as desired and SAVE as the new material name.

      Best wishes,

      Madhu

      Just select a material already existing in the case which is aluminium change the properties and save under new name. But also add more information about release version and if the issue you reported can be reproduced

      Thanks very much for both your replies. However, even when selecting "edit" on an already-existing material like aluminum, the properties section remains blank. Furthermore, within the new materials select window, all values for a given substance are greyed out and cannot be edited. I am attaching screenshots of both these cases as well as a picture of my version number, which I believe is ANSYS student 2019 R3.

      Can you export one material to a user defined data base. Just click on user defined tables give a name it will then create a new file and then copy aluminium from case into that in a editor now do some changes and read it again Does it work? Very strange issue.. can you start from scratch and repeat on a blank dummy mesh?

      I have been able to create a user-defined entry using textedit, however to do so I basically copy/pasted the structure I saw on the CFD forums for air, creating the following document:

      (

      (fiberglass solid

      (chemical-formula . #f)

      (density (constant . 2460)

      (premixed-combustion 1.225 300))

      (specific-heat (constant . 737))

      (thermal-conductivity (constant . 1.45))

      (viscosity (constant . 1.7894e-05)

      (sutherland 1.7894e-05 273.11 110.56)

      (power-law 1.7894e-05 273.11 0.666))

      (molecular-weight (constant . 28.966))

      )

      )

      After saving this as a SCM file, I have opened it in Fluent and this window popped up again:

      I have tried pressing "close", "save", and "edit" but in none of these circumstances does my new material seem to be input.

      Yes it is wrong that is why I described the correct way to do it there are some brackets missing.

      Thanks very much for your instructions, I have been able to export the aluminum data file but I do not know how to edit the file in order to change its properties. I am looking to modify the thermal conductivity and specific heat, how can I change the file below?
