Ansys Electronics Student Desktop NO sense temperature outcomes

I'm using Ansys Icepak student version to perform thermal simulation of a copper bar under 1500A of current of dimesion 200mmx1mmx3mm. I always did simulations with pretty much small regions on icepak (a cube of about 400mm of side length). Now I've seen that the region is too small because my object's temperature is self-influenced by the heated environment and I need to increase it's volume to avoid this phenomena, so I used a cube of 2000mm of side lenght. I can't understand why now I get values of temperature that have no sense, some are over 3000 celsius degrees, sometimes without changing any setup it gives below zero temperatures. I know for sure that my temperature should be around 100 celsius degrees, then I really don't understand why the softwere gives such different results without any relevant change in the geometry or setup, is this a bug or something? In very few occasions it gives honest results but the majority of times with a bigger region it messes up everything. Anyone has advices or indications?

      Thanks

      Hi Martino,

Thanks for reaching out. Is it in a natural convection environment?

      Hi Pdev,

Yes it is a natural convection.

If thats the case, make sure the boundary of the cabinet/air region is a pressure opening and ensure the gravity is on. I'm assuming this is a joule heating case, so mesh is very crucial.

Gravity is on, about the pressure opening I did on the faces of the region "assign thermal">"opening">"free", if is that what you mean. Except for the coupling, the refining of the mesh setting and the ambient temperature I've left all the default settings. Should I do something else?

      Thanks

I think it would be better if you can file a ticket with Customer support as we would need to review your model.

      Best,
      Pdev
