SubscriberHi all,
I am trying to set up an automatic simulation process in CFX with several design points. The following geometry is imported to SpaceClaim:
In order that Mesh and Pre recognizes the surfaces and so on as "named selections" for meshing and the setup, the faces were coloured within the CAD software, SpaceClaim recognizes those colors as "named selections" and transfers them to "Mesh" and "Pre" - this works perfectly!
Â
Now the issue: When I am applying "share topology" within SpaceClaim in order to obtain a better mesh, the named selection "inlet_outlet" is disappeared in Pre. As a result i cannot apply an interface between two domains as shown above. It is the same between the rotating region and the outlet. Another random name for "inlet_outlet" is created where i can apply the interface manually. But in the next automatic circle, the random name is changed and i have to choose it manually again.
Does anyone have an advice how to transfer a certain and fixed "named selection" to pre in order to apply the interface on this face?
Â
Best wishes
Wolfgang

Forum ModeratorIf you don't want the surfaces connected don't use share topology, or use the break option for specific surfaces.Â

SubscriberWithout shared topology, the mesh size for both surfaces vary a lot.Â
Â
Where can find this break option?
Â
One more problem is, I cannot disable this shared topology be default. With every geometry update it is activated again.

Forum ModeratorIt will vary, that's why we use Share Topology. In Fluent we just slit the boundary in the solver, not sure if you can do this in CFX.Â
Break is about two buttons along from the Share Topology icon.Â

SubscriberHi,
I cannot find the break button ... does this solve the issue, that no named selection is transfered to Pre?

Forum ModeratorUnshare, sorry, got the name mixed up with something else.Â

Subscriberokay, I found the button. But this option does not result in a conformal mesh

SubscriberOkay, but this was one of the desribed issues in my first post were I tried to explain my plan.
Could you please have a look at my description again? I would like to achieve an conformal, but additionally I need the named selections transfered to PRE to assign my interface on it

Forum ModeratorIf you label after share topology it should work. But any updates to the geometry will probably break the labelling.Â

SubscriberI am planning to run several design points for an optimization in an automatic process. As a result I cannot label the surfaces manual after geometry update.

SubscriberHello Wolfgang
Did you manage to find a solution? I'm having the same issue.
