Johnson cook model parameters in metal cutting simulation

trying to perform an FEM metal cutting simulation using Steel 4340 one of the model in explicit materials library. I added Johnson cook failure and also include mat_add_erosion as presented below.

The materials will not delete after the rigid tool cut into it.

I know its the D1 - D5 that influence the failure, i have tried to adjust them accordingly i did not get the required result. if anyone could guide on this materials i will be glad.

I am using this material because its has the nearest properties the materials i am studying.

      Hi,

Have you verified whether the model meets the failure criteria of 1.5 plastic strain and a strain of -0.4? Typically, setting the plastic strain with a negative offset, in combination with eroding contact, should be sufficient. Additionally, you may consider refining the mesh on the workpiece for improved accuracy.

Alternatively, exploring particle-based methods such as SPH or SPG could be beneficial, as they offer more robust formulations and enhanced solution accuracy.

      Cheers, Ram
