SubscriberDear Forum,
Â
How do we setup the model for a mechanism which is operated by a hydraulic cylinder. My concern is how to define and apply the pressure load. We cant apply pressure on a rigid body. if we perform a mbd analysis in ansys motion and convert the body into flexible, the result of pressure vs time data is not giving the proper results.Â
In general how do we model such system in ansys, i want to define the hydraulic loads. wheather to give pressure vs time data or force vs time data? if not what is the correct way of setting up the model for hydraulic system.
Regards,

SubscriberHydraulic cylinders are specified by the force required to be pushed and moved.
Use a Rigid Dynamics analysis with a Translational Joint between the two points in the model where the hydraulic cylinder goes. Use a Joint Load of displacement to move the mechanism. Insert a Joint Force Probe result in the solution branch to measure the force required to move the mechanism. That force will help you select an appropriate size hydraulic cylinder.
