SubscriberHello,
I have been having problems meshing in ANSYS Mechanical 2020 R1. The geometry is not complicated, yet a default mesh will not develop. My system is an Intel(R) Core i7-7500U 64-bit Windows 10 OS with 16GB of RAM. I have looked into updates and everything seems to be up to date. I've tried reinstalling with my graphics card disabled as well as VPN disabled, and wifi disabled to ensure it's not a network problem, and I disabled my antivirus programs while installing and the same error reoccurs. One errors says it switched to "Aggressive Mechanical 2019 R3" even though there was no evidence of 2019 R3 in my computer's registry.
The errors in Mechanical read as:
"The default error limit for mechanical physics preference has change to Aggressive Mechanical in 2019 R3."
"The mesh generation did not complete due to poor quality elements or incorrect input. Please try meshing with another mesh method or different mesh options."
I've tinkered around with the mesh settings still get the same error. Is this a hardware or software issue?
Thanks in advanceÂ

Ansys Employeeonce you get the error, right click and click on show problematic geometry.Â
here you may need to change geometry or use virtual topology or change mesh sizing.Â
please check geometry in spaceclaim.Â
geometry may have some errors. if so please correct those errors before going to mesh.Â

SubscriberThe default mesh setting works fine for it in the academic version of ANSYS 2019 R3, but in 2020 R1 the error occurs. My classmates have had no problem with the geometry in 2020 R1 and get the geometry to mesh fine. When I right click the error message and go to object, it highlights "mesh" in the project tree. I have tried both more coarse element size and fine settings and the same error message keeps popping up. Is it possible there is a corrupted file in my download?
Thanks,
Cody

Ansys EmployeePlease try to uninstall and re-install 2020R1.Â
Cross check all settings in mesh including default settings like min and max size etc with your classmates.Â

SubscriberI have uninstalled and reinstalled 2020R1 a few times and the same error occurs. I also checked my mesh settings to a classmate's and used identical settings, yet the error pops up again and a mesh is not created.Â
Is there something else I can try?
Thanks,
Cody

Ansys EmployeeInstallation must be the issue. Can you please try 2019R3 or 2019R2.Â
If that does not work, please create a post under installation category.Â

I probe uninstall Amplitube form my laptop and now ANSYS works. I hope it works for you. If it not, maybe another software is **** up ANSYS.
