SubscriberHello everyone I have a project in Lumerical in the FDTD section and I want to see the effect of changing the intensity of the incoming light on the final effective refractive index. What should I do?
I'm looking for a way to change the refractive index so that it changes with the intensity of the incoming light, so that I can see the effect and have filters for different wavelengths...

Ansys EmployeeHello,
To introduce nonlinear effects into the simulation, you need to add a chi3 nonlinear polarization via the Chi3/Chi2 model from the Material Database: https://optics.ansys.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034394734-Advanced-and-custom-optical-material-models-in-FDTD-and-MODE . In this article is described the workflow of a ring resonator that manifests optical bitability: https://optics.ansys.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041723954-Ring-resonator-optical-bistabilityÂ
Kind regards,
Artemis
