SubscriberHi,
when I read a case into Fluent 2024. I got the following text: Setting process affinity: Failed opening libc!
I know that this is obviously an error with Fluent not being able to call the appropriate function in the C-standard library to set the process affinity for the job, but i know libc is installed on the machine.
The Linux platform is Ubuntu 22.04.4. What can I do to solve this problem?
Thanks,
Mingyang

Ansys EmployeeHi Mingyang,
I would recommend you to ensure that you have all the require pre-requisite packages installed for 2024 R2:
libc6:i386 debianutils gzip libasound2 libatk-bridge2.0-0 libatk1.0-0 libatspi2.0-0 libavahi-client3 libavahi-common3 libblkid1 libc6 libc6-i386 libcairo-gobject2 libcairo2 libcap2 libcom-err2 libcrypt1 libcups2 libdatrie1 libdbus-1-3 libdrm2 libegl1 libepoxy0 libexpat1 libffi8 libfribidi0 libgbm1 libgcrypt20 libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0 libglib2.0-0 libglvnd0 libgnutls30 libgpg-error0 libgraphite2-3 libgssapi-krb5-2 libgtk-3-0 libharfbuzz0b libhogweed6 libidn2-0 libjpeg62 libk5crypto3 libkeyutils1 libkrb5-3 libkrb5support0 libmount1 libnettle8 libnspr4 libnss3 libp11-kit0 libpango-1.0-0 libpangocairo-1.0-0 libpangoft2-1.0-0 libpcre2-8-0 libpcre3 libselinux1 libsystemd0 libtasn1-6 libthai0 libunistring2 libuuid1 libwayland-client0 libwayland-cursor0 libwayland-egl1 libwayland-server0 libxcb-render0 libxcb-shm0 libxcomposite1 libxcursor1 libxdamage1 libxfixes3 libxi6 libxinerama1 libxkbcommon0 libxrandr2 libxrender1 libxxf86vm1 lsb-core tar xfonts-100dpi xfonts-75dpi
If you still see the libc issue, make sure you point to the path where you have libc libraries using LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable before loading Fluent, making sure you have read, execute permissions to the path and the ANSYS install path.

Ansys EmployeeHello
Please double check all necessary prerequisitess listed at link below for the OS and application are installed.
https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/public/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v251/en/installation/unix_platform_libraries.html
Try starting fluent without opening any models or reading in any models or meshes to see if it starts
If issues continue, can you please share the count, make and model of the processor and whether this computer is a standalone machine or a part of a cluster?

SubscriberThank you for your response. I’ve thoroughly verified all the essential prerequisites and successfully enabled 32 - bit support. The LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable has been configured to point to “/lib/x86_64 - linux - gnu”.
The computer operates as a standalone system, equipped with two AMD 7T83 CPUs. Hyper - threading has been disabled. The operating system running on this machine is Ubuntu 22.04.5.
I tried starting fluent without opening any models, but I still meet the error.

Subscriberhello,
I followed your suggestion and used -affinity=off, but it still shows: "Setting process affinity:Failed opening libc!"
