SubscriberHello everyone,
I have a problem with the table of design points, I want to calculate the drag on a cylinder in 2D for differents velocity inlets magnitudes and differents cylinders radius, but when I'm setting those two as parameters and making them vary in a table of design points, Fluent just returns me the same drag for every one without changing the parameters values for each design point...
I even have a message telling me that the velocity inlet is not taken into account for the calculation of my design point...
Could you tell me how do I have to proceed in order to make Fluent understand that I want him to change the radius and the velocity inlet for each design point ? I couldn't find anything on the Ansys help document or on the Internet...
Thank you very much in advance for your help and have a nice day !
Here are some screenshots of what I mean :

Forum ModeratorCan you check how the parameter is defined in Fluent and in the Geometry tool? Please also post a screen shot of the workflow.

SubscriberHello rwoolhou, and thank you very much for considering my problem !
For the definition of the parameters, I've just set my cylinder radius as a parameter by clicking on the box next to him in DesignModeler, like this :
For the parameter in Fluent, I've just defined my inlet velocity as a "new parameter" in the boundary conditions window, like this :
Also, I have maybe modified my "parameter set" options while I was trying to fix it, here is a screenshot of them :
For the workflow, I'm not very sure what you meant but here is a screenshot of what I think you want, if it's not just tell me what I have to screenshot and I will post it:
Thank you very much for your help !

Ansys Employeecan you please check if geometry and velocity by opening dp2.
right click on dp2. set it as current design point.
open fluent corresponding to dp2 and check the geometry dimension and velocity defined.
also fluent should display velocity as parameter and not value. please cross check.

Keyur

SubscriberHello kkanade, and thank you for your answer !
I've set my DP2 as current, and in the geometry the radius of my cylinder is 1,4 meters as I've set it in the table of design points, so nothing wrong with the cylinder radius... Here is a screenshot :
For the velocity, Fluent displays it as a parameter, and it does take into account the new velocity for each design points in the setup and solution parts... Here is a screenshot of the DP2 where we can see the velocity inlet of 30 m/s as I've set it in the table of design points:
Even the drag calculated in Fluent for DP2 is good, but my table of design points doesn't display it...
It seems that the problem is in the communication of the Drag value between Fluent and the table of design points, but I can't figure out what it could be...
Thank you in advance for your help !

Forum ModeratorCheck what you promoted to a parameter. Try creating a force report and promoting that to a parameter, see if it's something in the set up.

Ansys Employeeplease redefine output parameter and cross check. looks like output parameter is not correctly defined in fluent.

SubscriberI've redefined it and it works now ! I still don't know what was the problem but I know how to define properly an output parameter now... Thank you kkanade and rwoolhou for your help and have a nice day !

Subscriber. This is exactly the problem I'm having, but I'm not sure how to redefine an output parameter as you all found to be the solution. Would anyone mind describing how this is done? Thank you so much, been struggling with this for a whie...
