SubscriberHi, I am conducting a crush capacity analysis of an umbilical using static structural analysis. I am using two pads to crush the umbilical, but when I run the simulation, all the forces seem to concentrate in a small area rather than being evenly distributed across the umbilical. Are there any known reasons for this?

Ansys EmployeeHi Raegab,
Could you include a picture at the start of the analysis before deformation begins? From the picture you sent, it appears to me that the mesh is severely distorted in a local area. For this type of application you may look into explicit dynamics solver like Autodyn or LS-DYNA.
