SpaceClaim bracings

      Hello,

I have some issues with my model.

I created a steel frame with Spaceclaim but I have problem in the mesh. It doesn't mesh well between the elements.

I think there is a problem with the topology in Spaceclaim but I don't know what to do.

Moreover, we need to be careful with bracing that does not cross with the other elements.

Finally I have issues with the solver.

Here my model if you can have a look it will be great !!

      Thank you

      Maxime

      Maxime,

Your project has two geometries: B and E that link to Static Structural C and F respectively. Which one are you having trouble with?

      Peter,

This the geometry B that I use.

      Thanks

Add a Modal analysis after the Static Structural so you can drag and drop the Fixed Support.  Then in Modal, it shows you the bodies that are not connected and have a zero frequency.

The problem is that the nodes along the beam on the frame does not line up with the beams on the roof.

The corrective action is to use the Share tool on the Workbench tab in SpaceClaim.

Now the modal has a non zero first natural frequency.

Note: when I did the share, the cables that were to be Links were visible, so they got cut into pieces. Make the cables hidden so they don't get Shared.

      Thank you Peter,

That's work but after sharing the whole structure with hidden bracings, you have to share the connexion between the structure and the bracings.

I did a modal analysis with the correct structure (verified in static) and the modal frequences are 0Hz with all the structure mass in the 3 directions.

How do you read that? Why the main modes are for 0 Hz?

Here a picture of the ratio between effective mass and total mass.

      Thank you for your help.

Modal frequency of 0 Hz means the body is not connected.

Brace=Cable.  Cable has only 1 element along length.  Use Node Merge to connect end of cable to a node on the frame.

Ok i found what was wrong.

Thanks a lot for your help
