SubscriberHello Ansys,
How to adjust the aspect ratio in Ansys 19.1 workbench. Whether aspect ratio is the length to height ratio of element or length to width ratio of an element or it is the ratio of maximum edge length to minimum edge length of an element? which aspect ratio I have to select? where we can control this aspect ratio?
please help!

Forum ModeratorAspect ratios are calculated for faces as explained in the links:

Â
You can control aspect ratio either by multiple options by checking where you have offending aspect ratio elements.Â
one can use target quality:
https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/Secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v195/wb_msh/wb_msh_d5l_jw5_jw.html
Â
or if it is due to inflation layers choose correct method of using first aspect ratio (https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/Secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v195/wb_msh/msh_First_Aspect_Ratio.html) or last aspect ratio (https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/Secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v195/wb_msh/msh_Aspect_Ratio_b_h.html).
Why do you want to control the aspect ratio and to what extent you want to control it?

SubscriberHello Aniket,
thanks for the reply.
Iam trying to control it because I got an error like this
Element 2616 (type = 2, SOLID186) (and maybe other elements) has become  highly distorted. Excessive distortion of elements is usually a     symptom indicating the need for corrective action elsewhere. Try     incrementing the load more slowly (increase the number of substeps or   decrease the time step size). You may need to improve your mesh to    obtain elements with better aspect ratios. Also consider the behavior  of materials, contact pairs, and/or constraint equations. Please rule  out other root causes of this failure before attempting rezoning or    nonlinear adaptive solutions. If this message appears in the first    iteration of first substep, be sure to perform element shape checking.
