SubscriberQ1: Hi, Im trying to model a timber to timber bolted beam to column connection with linear elastic perfectly plastic behavior in ANSYS 17.1 (adpl?). I have entered the orthotropic material properties of wood. However the direction of wood grain is y direction in the column and x direction in the beam. How can I rotate the material properties? (Do I mesh first and then rotate? or is there a simpler way?)
Q2: How do I enter the 3 different yield stresses for the 3 wood axis for the plastic analysis?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SubscriberYes, create local coordinate systems in the direction of the wood grain, then set mesh attributes for the volume to that local coordinate system before meshing.

good luck
