I am doing a simulation on the convection problem. Can anyone suggest to me how to give Varying HTC(heat transfer coefficient) or function of HTC in TransientThermal??  I am using Ansys 19.3 student version. I tried with tabular data but unable to give more than 10 values.

I have applied varying HTC on the solid square Cylinder of radius 1.5m. now I am trying to apply HTC varying with temp., along the radius.

Sorry for that i don't know. But I'm so interest in your quara... Curious for answer !!!

I suggest you add a Fluid domain around the body that has convection heat transfer and let Fluent compute the fluid motion that convects heat.

thank you, sir, for your guidance.

my overall problem is to simulate spray cooling of huge shafts.

so I have functions of HTC(heat transfer coefficient) that depend on the radius, time, temperature and I am trying to directly apply convection function on the whole cylinder in the Transient Thermal Module of Ansys. But I am unable to apply those functions in that so can you guide me on how to apply those functions or any function of convection in transient Thermal.

I have tried to put time-dependent data. but the .xml file I have prepared is not working and in tabular type data, I cant put more than 10 rows.

So I am trying to put function directly. but I don't know how to put that. can you please guide me with any arbitrary time, radius and temperature-dependent functions respectively.

In Fluent, you can simulate spray cooling of a solid body. Droplets can evaporate to take heat away from the solid.

Where did the HTC data come from?

Did you read the ANSYS Help Thermal Analysis Guide?  They have an example where the film coefficient is a function of X-position. Below is a URL to the ANSYS 2019 R3 Help system.

      https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v195/ans_the/Hlp_G_THE2_9.html?q=convective film heat transfer coefficient

How to use the above Help URL with a Student License.

Below they define a 1D table that has 5 values. If you look up the *DIM command, you can have 2D and 3D tables and they are not limited to 10 rows.

I have extracted this data using graphs from research papers related to this topic.

      thanks for your great support.

I will try according to your mentioned method.

sir, can you give me any tutorial video link or any study material to simulate spray cooling of the cylinder in 3d.

I have data for simulation Pressure =2bar, the mass flow rate in nozzle=1.667kg/sec at room temp cooling a square cylinder of diameter=1500mm, initial temp=900 deg Celcius.

I will try to simulate in fluent also. if any help needed, I will again disturb you.

Thank your sir, I will go through it.

      It's really helpful for me..
