Simulating for optimizing antenna installation on a vehichle, vendor issues

      Hello,

I have bought antennas to install on a vehichle, but need to simulate for optimal antenna placement in HFSS. I have the .stp file of the vehichle, and want the models of the antennas to complete the simulation, but how do I go about asking the vendors? I don't think they will give me the internal structure with the materials. I have seen a video of an encrypted component, and I am wondering if this will work? I have no experience in this, so I am seeking your help.

      My applications are these:
1- Deciding on the place for antennas
2- Decide on the minimum seperation between two antennas
3- Simulating accurate fade margins in STK, as I want the antennas to have their true patterns and be able to use the received carrier power instead of istropic as a metric for sensitivity

In short, given my applications, what do I ask the vendors of the antennas?

      All help is much appreciated.

You can model this problem using HFSS SBR+. - If you know the general type of antenna, the SBR+ tool includes 'current-source' represntations of many standard antenna types (monopole, dipole, horn, loop, slot, etc.) and also phased array antennas.
