How to simulate the Magnus Effect on a rotating cylinder ?

      Hello,

I would like to simulate the air flow around a rotating cylinder to highlight the Magnus effect.

I managed to get a good simulation with a 2D simulation, thanks to some tutorial out here, but I can't manage to do it in 3D.

      I followed this tutorial :

Except that I only put one cylinder and it was not an elliptical one, but everything else is the same. However, when i want to rotate my cylinder, I would use the "rotating wall" option like I did in my 2D simulation, but it doesn't work. I didn't really know what to rotate so I tried with everyone of my walls.

This is my 2D simulation :

Quite what i wanted, however when i try in 3D I get this :

Which clearly shows my cylinder is not rotating. When I want to rotate my wall, I have this menu :

And this "shadow" thing is the only thing I can try to rotate. I'm quite new to Ansys so I do not know what I should do without help, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me.

      Thanks,

How many volumes have you got? A shadow wall implies there's something on the other side of the wall.

Only 2, one volume for my big "box" supposed to simulate my fluid and an another one for my cylinder.

You have a fluid and a solid, or two fluids?

Have a look at the reference frame tutorials in the documentation.

I have one fluid and my cylinder is a solid.

      I'll check that thanks
