Hi,
The *CONTACT_TIEBREAK_SURFACE_TO_SURFACE keyword in LS-DYNA lets you define a bond between two surfaces, which can break under certain conditions and turn into a regular sliding contact after failure. This uses penalty-based contact formulations. In this contact algorithm, the bond between surfaces fails when:
NFLS = Tensile failure stress
SFLS = Shear failure stress
For further information, please check the contact section in the LS-DYNA User Manual Vol. 1 (LSDYNA Manuals).
I hope this answers your question.
Thanks,
Pedram
