      Hi everyone,

I asked the following question above

      /forum/forums/topic/compression-only-1/?reply=df034d31-7ba8-452b-9fcb-ab0f00fcc4d1#createpost

What will be the difference if I apply  bearing load at the hole and displacement x=0 en the left edge.  Because I have done this and now I have different results.

      Best regards,

      Hi Veronica,

A Compression only support creates a frictionless contact with a rigid surface. That is like putting a pin in the hole.

Bearing load creates a force on the nodes where the maximum force is at 0 degrees and zero force is at 90 degrees on either side and the distribution of force is sinusoidal.

So Compression only support and bearing load are slightly different.

Please show the two models using the same scale on the Legend to show the difference between the two models. If you want you can Attach your Archive .wbpz file to the post.

      Best regards,
      Peter

Thank you so much for your help, in your answer I think that with bearing support you are refering to compressión only support or am I wrong?

      Hi Veronica,

Yes, I meant a compression only support. I edited the post above for clarity.

To make the same color legend on both plots, on the top plot, double click on the 0.059088 and type 0.04 while on the bottom plot, double click on the 0.047454 and type 0.04.  Do the same on the negative end of the scale, replace -0.021088 and -0.024729 with -0.02.  Finally click on the green square in the middle of the legend, a +/- will pop up. Click the minus to remove one square from the legend.  If you have more than two plots to make equal, you can right mouse click on the legend and Name it, then just use that name on another plot.

      Best regards,
      Peter
