Grounded CPW Ports

      Hi,

I'm attempting a similar layout to the Ansys Learning youtube video: Simulation of a Branchline Quadrature Hybrid Using Ansys Electronics Desktop, Part 2 — Lesson 3 in which a circuit schematic is created, a layout is then copied to HFSS 3D Layout, then substrate, ground, and air layer parts are added. However, instead of using microstrip, my design uses grounded coplanar waveguide. I can create the ports but HFSS/AEDT errors with the following message: PortX: could not located hte terminal in the mesh Ground. The port could be intersected by a cutout or via.

I admit that my knowledge of planar 2.5 may be outdated by the current HFSS/AEDT, but this used to work many years ago. What's the correct procedure for grounded CPW in the more recent versions of HFSS? I'm currently using AEDT 2023R1.1

      Thanks.

There is an HFSS built-in example of a coplanar waveguide with ground that you can take a a reference for port setup

      Aymen,

Thanks for your reply, but I already know how to do this in the full wave (3D) HFSS. My question was for the Planar EM (2.5D) solver. In the planar layout, when I select the edges to assign grounded CPW ports it's not behaving like it used to several versions ago (Ansoft/Ansys Designer - yes, I'm showing my age here...), so I'm wondering what the procedure is for the current version of HFSS/AEDT.
