SubscriberHi guys I am presently working on fluent for solving multiphase flow over cylinder.
For the problem I need to plot vertical force Vs time .I could actually see the vertical force from reports.but wat I need is to plot the vertical force Vs time...It will be greatful if anyone help me out of this.
Thank you -

Forum ModeratorYou need a monitor, and then plot that as the model runs.Â
As an aside, bumping a post on the day it's added isn't going to speed anything up. After a few days it's fair enough as we may have missed it.Â

SubscriberThanks for the rply
Actually what I need is force Vs flow time .I didnt get it what you meant by monitoring .could we actaully monitor force Vs flow time..or is it lift coeff..
I don't need to plot lift coeff..if monitoring force is possible could you pls elaborate.. -

Ansys EmployeeYou go to report definition and create a force monitor. Check some tutorials which explain it. -

SubscriberThanks for the reply.
Actually I was using ansys 16.1 and there is no such report definition option in it.
I tried monitors , but there is no force monitor in it . I was able to monitor lift coefficient but for my problem velocity keeps changing so I need to plot force itself. -

Ansys EmployeeThen the old force monitor plot. Try updating to an actual release -

SubscriberHi..
I dnt understand what u meant. It will be helpful if elaborate.
Actually there is no force monitor in monitor..Lift coeff and drag coeff are available .but I need to plot vertical force -

SubscriberHello I checked the link..So we could actually get the values of force from reports as mentioned in the link. But the problem we have to pause the iteration each time and go to the report for getting the value..So if we need let's say force for 100 time periods,we have to stop iteration 100 times and go check the report values and plot the graph manually...Does there exist anyother method or any software in which we will be able to plot force Vs time.. -

Forum ModeratorNo, read up on transient monitors and plot the result to a graph. That (if you do it correctly) will output time on the x-axis and force on the y.Â

Ansys EmployeeFluent can do that as you read the out file back into it. -

Ansys EmployeeHey search after force in the help related to your working version. And look into https://confluence.cornell.edu/display/SIMULATION/Flow+over+an+Airfoil+-+Numerical+Results
