Sketching does not work in DesignModeler

I'm trying to sketch in DesignModeler. However, no lines or shapes are drawn.
When I run DesignModeler, a licensing error appears. Is this the problem?
FlexNet Licensing error-5,357 appears.

  For instance if I start a line at one point nothing happens when I click mouse for the end point.
