I am simulating a batch mixing vessel, which is an agitated vessel. The system I am modelling consists of two immiscible phases, air & water, where I am using the transient VOF solver to track the deformation of the interface (see picture below).

I want to introduce a tracer which is miscible with the water phase to track the concentration and estimate mixing times in the tank, where the tracer will be injected on the free surface. I wanted to ask how do I set up such a simulation (i.e., what model do I need to select in ANSYS, what is the general methodlogy/strategy). Also will the VOF solver be capable of supporting the flow physics for the tracer injection study consisting of two misible phases (water-tracer, binary liquid) with one immisicble phase (air). I ask as all current studies in the literature which have simulated tracer injection only consider a flat liquid surface (i.e., no VOF).

Same process as for single phase, but instead the species mixture is attached to the liquid phase. Getting the tracer in is a little more difficult, and you'll need a cell zone and source terms: so you'll not get the release precisely on the free surface.

Thank you for the answer! Regarding defining a cell zone, I already have two cell zones (inner MRF zone and outer stationary zone) which were created in ANSYS Workbench Geometry. Do I need to define a third zone by creating a third zone in CAD (as was done previously) or is this another method?
