Hello ANSYS community,
I am currently working on a simulation project where I aim to analyze the stress state of the soil at the riverbed of a flowing river. I have already calculated the pressure distribution on the riverbed using ANSYS Fluent, but I now need to incorporate these pressure results into ANSYS Mechanical to simulate the effective stress in the soil.
Could anyone please guide me on how to:
1) Transfer the pressure data calculated in ANSYS Fluent to ANSYS Mechanical.
2) Use this pressure data to calculate the effective stress of the soil in ANSYS Mechanical, particularly in the context of riverbed conditions.
3) Whether it is necessary to simulate filtration in ANSYS Fluent and then transfer the pressures from the volume where the filtration occurs, into the same volume defined as soil in ANSYS Mechanical.Any insights or suggestions on the methodology, including the correct workflow or potential challenges, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!

HelloÂ
You can transfer the Fluent pressure data into Mechanical by following approaches:- Using imported loads for one-way FSI. Direct schematic connection between Fluent and Mechanical: Using Imported Loads for One-Way FSI (ansys.com)
- Using system coupling: 5.15.17.5. One-Way FSI Transfers Using System Coupling in Workbench (ansys.com)
- Export the pressure data from Fluent and import it in Mechanical using External data.Â

Hello,
Thank you for your response. However, I might not have explained myself clearly. What I need is to transfer the pore pressure within the soil to calculate the effective stress.
In ANSYS Fluent, I created a porous zone, and I would like to transfer the pore pressure from that zone to the corresponding volume in ANSYS Mechanical to calculate the effective stress.
Could you please clarify which command or feature I should use within the "Insert" menu of Static Structural to achieve this?
When I attempt to transfer the pressure data, I only obtain the pressure on the surface, so I believe I might be missing a step.
Thank you in advance for your help.
