SubscriberHello, I am new to ansys, I figured out that ansys workbench can be used to simulate electrostatic MEMS cantilever. Please guide me a way trough how to simulate it or provide some material for the same( i surfed on internet for the material but i didn't find any material)

SubscriberBut sir in ansys help i found some material related to MEMS electrostatic cantilever, But i find only commands(code snippet) over there please provide me an alternative material to understand how to build and simulate MEMS electrostatic cantilever

  I am using ansys workbench 18.2, I downloaded Piezo & MEMS ACT extension and installed it. Now to proceed to the simulation i have to use TRANS 126 as my engineering material to make the geometry but i didn't find that material there in engineering data . Also i don't know how to apply electrical load and get the simulation run. Please get me some related material for the same.

SubscriberDidn't the zip file you downloaded have an example in it? Have you searched on YouTube?
TRANS126 is an element not a material. Use the ANSYS Help, go to the Mechanical APDL section and you will find the Element Reference for it.

   I am using ansys workbench software for electrostatic MEMS simulation, I want to give step voltage or change voltage as of function of time depending on situation how to do that in Ansys 18.2 workbench. Also how to do harmonic analysis. what is the use of voltage coupling.Â

SubscriberIt would be easier to provide advice if you post a complete description of the geometry by inserting some images into the post, show the boundary conditions, the faces that will have voltage applied, whether the analysis is Static Structural or Transient Structural.

SubscriberDo you have a body to represent the air around the beam? You have to mesh the air as well as the conductive body. You might want to have a body that surrounds the air in order to mesh a layer of infinite boundary elements.

SubscriberYes, there is body representing the air below the beam,(face underneath the air is consider as ground plane by assigning voltage 0). This body is assigned as electrostatic body while meshing. now i want to vary voltage as function of time.
for example : i want a step voltage signal to see the dynamic response of the system), also want to do harmonic analysis.

SubscriberThe .wbpj file on its own is useless. It requires the files in the _files folder to be useful. Follow these directions for creating a .wbpz file, which is an archive file and contains both. That file extension is allowed to be attached after the post is posted.
Say what version of ANSYS you are using in your reply.
