Hello,

 

When defining the new design point in mechanical parameters, the material is not assigned in the new point so it fails and ask for user input.

Any help?

Open Engineering Data, right mouse click on the material you want assigned to new solids, and pick Default Solid Material For Model.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I am taking out the Geom from Spaceclaim script. Does it affect the transferring of the data? Realy frustrating. I tried in Static and Transient structural.

The material is not assigned in the nex points. I tried your advice as well. I have different machines, same issue on all I tried in 18.2 version R1 and R2 making the model from scratch, but no luke.

Any more advice? even I thought to write an ACT command; however, I am new in that. I have access to support solution if there are any recommendations 

Please help, got tired of many trials! When the model in SpaceClaim is parametric on no script there is no issue but in that case, sometimes getting the wrong Geom, So modelled to have the full Geom scripted but got to another issue in material assigned.

Thank you for the reply, I tried many many ways and changes in options, in workbench, mechanical, ... .

I tried in different modules( transient, Static, Rigid, ....) I believe it is a bug in the update part; however, I found a way to solve it.

 

The solution is that in SpaceClaim you have to name the body in the group. then in mechanical under the material in the tree, there is an option to assign the material to named selections(body) so it forces the code to assign the material to the geometry you like and updating the Geometry has no user input needed anymore. In fact, the option in the Geometry properties which ask to assign default material to the updated geometry is not responding properly in my case.

I am happy the developer considered assigning Geometry to materials as well not just assigning material to Geometry.

Hi Shahab,

Can you please elaborate how you constructed the code in Mechanical to assign a material?

I'm having a similar problem where I need to constantly update the material with every change to my geometry. My script in SpaceClaim successfully builds the geometry and assigns a name to each body, but I'm unsure how to start scripting in Mechanical due to lack of documentation. Any guidance is very much appreciated.
