September 3, 2024 at 12:44 pmluna6362 SubscriberHi everyone. I need to measure the average fluid velocity in a specific part of my model, but I'm not sure which function to use within the Function Calculator. There are four options that I think might be suitable, but the velocity results from these four options vary significantly. Which one should I use to obtain the correct result? My simulation involves incompressible flow. 1.areaAve 2.ave 3.massFlowAve 4.massFlowAveAbs

September 5, 2024 at 9:38 amEssence Ansys EmployeeHello, Since the flow is incompressible, no energy equation solved (simple flow without reversed flow), you know that velocity = (mass flow rate)/(constant density*cross section area). You can determine mass flow rate, density and cross section area. You can then verify with which of the four fits to your application. -
September 5, 2024 at 11:56 amluna6362 SubscriberHello Essence, Thank you for your response. Actually, my model is quite complicated. So it is hard to determine the velocity using that simple formulation. And I just want to know the velocity of the upper part of my model. However, I might use a simple tube model to confirm which function is suitable to use. I will try it! Thank you so much!
