easy help with meshing on ansys

  I am new to ANSYS and want to create meshing for a composite material. When creating the mesh it gives me an error: (AS SEEN IN ATTACHED PICTURE) " The mesh does not contain any shell elements. This may be because the model is not compatible with Section Data providers.'" What exactly is a shell element? I tried adding thickness as I saw in other videos, but it doesnt give me the option on the lest side bottom window. How can I fix this error? Thanks !!!
