SubscriberHello,
i have a question about the meshing criteria. In the documentation of Ansys, you can find different criteria foe evaluate the mesh, for example the skewness. There you can find a table with different cell qualities.
The documentation also says, that you need a max. value of 0,4 for the skewness in the 3D-case.
Whate about the criteria "Element Quality" and "Orthogonal Quality". Are there also values, that should be reached at least? Or do i have to reach always the best value of 1 ?
Thanks for your help,
trippled

Forum ModeratorNot sure about Element Quality as I don't use it. Ortho quality (or skew) should be either above 0.1 or under 0.9 depending on which one is used: I can't remember which goes with which definition.Â

SubscriberThanks for your answer.
Where does the values come from? Do you have a literature source or are they based on your experience ?

Forum ModeratorThey're noted in the training materials (which you may not have access to) and may be present in documentation somewhere. I've been told these values, but don't have a reference: most of the models I build meet this criterion and work so I'm happy the range is valid.Â
To add, the criterion differ between the solvers so you need to check which solver requires which checks.Â
