SPH rain injection

      Hello,

I wanted to know if ROCKY can simulate injections of SPH particles to simulate rain.
I want to see something like the DEM particle injections on to a flat surface.

      Please comment on this.

      Thanks,
      Kiran

The option should be available in 24R1 once you've turned SPH on. With 24R2 due very soon you should find more in the Rocky Help & Tutorials.

I think there is some issue with the forum, I do not see the responses to my questions.

I was trying to solve this using the 2023 R1, is the SPH injection a new update to the 2024 release?
From the help ection and in the tutorial page, there is no mention of tutorials which talks about discrete sph injection, however there have been methods such as volumetric injections that assign fluid to a boundary.

I wanted to see something that I see in a DEM model, an SPH particle which gets released from a height and then this particle when it hits a surface should mimic a rain drop splatter.

There is. It should (might) be fixed now, so expect some of the duplicate threads to disappear.

I think SPH was 23R2, but don't have the feature list to check. Splashing droplets can work, but you're relying on correlations and SPH droplet size for the results: ie you may find you get the answer to set in the input. What are you trying to determine from the splashing?

It’s a simulation for rain using data gathered from outdoor testing, I just want to see if this can be done using water droplets as SPH injections.

It can be done, but for rain I'd probably look at DPM to Wall Film to VOF if needed. SPH may be overkill.

Are there any tutorials for this?
I did not come across any as of now

Have a look at the Dam Break tutorial, SPH injections may not be boundary based (yet) so you may need to source from a volume region or similar. Hence DPM and wall film.....
