Hi,
I am currently doing a spectrum analysis and I am comparing two methods:
- First, I use an existing APDL script ;
- Then, I try to do the same with Workbench Mechanical.
In the APDL script, I have 2 commands for damping :
- DMPRAT : where my damping coefficient is implemented ;
- SV : where my damping coefficient and my spectrum is implemented.
However, when I use Workbench Mechanical, in the spectrum system, I implement the damping coefficient. But when I look at the file.dat, I only see the damping coefficient in the DMPRAT command. The SV command contain spectrum values, but not the damping coefficient.
When I compare results between these two methods, I obtain different results (due to the damping I suppose).
My questions is:
- When I want to implement damping in a spectrum analysis (in Ansys Classic ou Workbench Mechanical), which command should I use ? (DMPRAT, SV, both ?)
Thanks for your answer,
Regards,
Jean

How are you applying damping in Mechanical?
