Sound source of LES+FW-H model

      Hi,

I am running the LES+FW-H model to siumulate noise generated in the pipe.

Wall is the outer surface of the fluid domain. My question is that, in the simulation, there is no solid of the pipe, only the fluid domain, should I include the wall in the sound source?

      Another question:

My model is show in the plot as followed:

I want to only export the noise generated in the small protrusion part. How can I achieve that.

I am using the discovery and fluent mesh to generate the mesh file. And i seperate that part in the discovery as a zone. But I cannot choose that zone in the source zone area

      Hello Jingyu,

In the acoustics sources page, you need to select the surfaces that should be part of the sources for your calculation. Using FW-H method, you do not need to include any solid parts in your model.

Depending on what you are interested in, if you want to select the walls of outlet2 only as part of your acoustics source, you will need to have a different face zone label. You can create named selections in Discovery and remesh your model accordingly, or you can use the Separate function in Fluent (Domain > Zones > Separate > Faces) and separate by Angle. The new zone should then be available in the list of Source zones

Here's some documentation on how to separate face zones in Fluent solution mode: 6.12. Modifying the Mesh (ansys.com)
