July 3, 2024 at 9:14 pmJames SubscriberIm trying to model the inflation of a fabric model on top of a rigid body for a project, but i am running into issues with the collision detection. The fabric mesh only collides with half of the rigid body and clips thru the rest. I havent been able to figure out why. The picture below is just to represent th problem Im having, not the actual whole model Im trying to make; I was just tryign to test collisions here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ansys EmployeeHello James, Please find attached an article about airbag contact modeling https://www.dynasupport.com/tutorial/contact-modeling-in-ls-dyna/airbag-contact Could you please let us know what type of contact are you using between the airbag and the structure? I would recommend starting with CONTACT_AUTOMATIC_SURFACE_TO_SURFACE with SOFT = 1 and it might be required to scale the contact thickness on the airbag side e.g., 1 mm. Please let us know how it goes.
 Thank you,
 AlexÂ

July 10, 2024 at 11:41 pmJames SubscriberCurrently, I am using the 2d surface to surface contact for the collision only because I couldnt get any of the other contacts to work correctly (this probably is not the right way to do it). I tried using the auto_surface_to_surface contact, but there was no collision at all. I was going to try and scale everything up (Its at .001 right now, not sure what units or how to check), but I am not sure how to scale everything up at once, because if I scale up the parachute fabric thickness much more the simulation wont run since the fabric penetrates the other meshes at that scale.
