We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

Hi Ahmed,

These inputs are provided by Lumerical. I'm not sure if we share the details of these quantities, this might be proprietary information. As far as I can tell, if you have a non-dispersive dielectric (constant permittivity) then:

  • Un = epsilon_r (the relative epsilon of the base material, which is 1 if the base material index is 1)
  • Vn = Dn/eps0 = epsilon_r En

These terms get more complicated when the base material is dispersive and the multi-coefficient material model is used.

These terms get more complicated when the base material is dispersive and the multi-coefficient material model is used. However, for the purposes of developing your model, you can consider the case where the base material is a simple dielectric.
