ventilation louvres – enclosure – porous replacement

      Hi Everbody,

I have an enclosure with the following ventilation louvres on the upper side. In order to shorten (simplify) the meshing and calculation time, I would like to solve this with porous modeling. This is how I would replace explicit modeling, which would greatly increase the number of elements and calculation time.

My question is how can I do this with porous replacement? I read that this is possible, but I could'nt find a specific calculation for it and description of the process.

      Many thanks for the help!

      Hello Krisztian,

you can find all the details on using Porous Media in Fluent here: 7.2. Cell Zone Conditions (ansys.com), which includes some examples on how to derive the Porous Media inputs

Thanks! I thought of doing a simulation of the geometry of the louvres and seeing how the pressure and velocity change (difference between the inlet and outlet side) develops when projected onto a plane. After that, I would express the value of ALFA and C2 from an equation. The thickness of the porous region is equal to the width of the louvres (thickness). This is correct?
