I have a problem designing ports for the coplanar strip lines of thickness 1um, spacing 2um, and width 2.5um (made of gold) . The design has no ground plate. The substrate is 500um. The frequency range is 0.2THz to 1THz Any help?Â

Hello,
You can use wave port for your simulation.
Please go through "Wave Ports"Â and "Wave Port Size" sections in HFSS Help document..
You can also enroll the free AIC course "Ansys HFSS Port Types" to learn more about how to use ports in Ansys HFSS.
Thanks,

Thanks Chinmay. The recommedation for port size is width 10*w and height 4h for differential with ground plane. For my case there is no ground plane. Should i use the same recommedations?

Hello,
In the HFSS document, wave port size reference is given for the microstrip transmission line model.
In your case, you can adjust the size of the waveport so that it can account for all the fields.
Thanks,

Hi ChinmayiÂ
I tried the port size as recommended in the HFSS port excitation document. It did not correlate with a published work and another software.Â
I used 5 to 10 times the height of the substrate 100um and the port was too narrow for very thin line widths.
Could you recommend the port size for a 6um width and 4um spacing coplanar lines on 100um substrate?
