Hello,
here is my model:Â
The whole area is just one cell zone. I would like to separate it in two cell zones (one above the cylinder, one below the cylinder) to define own splitting/collapsing conditions. As you can see the splitting process above the cylinder isn't working at the moment. I think the reason for that is, that the cell-row above and below the cylinder is one cell-row, because it is just one cell zone. If I separate the cell zones, the cylinder (definied as wall) is also splitted and can't be combined anymore (due to missing connection conditions).
Â
Summing up, I need:
- one cylinder (wall up, wall down)
- two adjacent zones of cylinder (above and below the cylinder)
Â
If I define two faces in the mesher, the cylinder gehts separated automatically.
Can you please help/tell me, how I can separate the zell cone in two zones but keep the cylinder (as shown in the picture) at the same time?
Thank you!

Hello Midjan,
I would recommend creating two faces for the fluid and a single Named Selection for the cylinder walls.

Hello, I tried that. If I open Fluent, the cylinder gets automatically splitted.
Here is my configuration in the mesher:
Â
And here what is happening when I load it in Fluent:
Cylinder was automatically splitted in cylinder-up and cylinder-down. I cant combine them anymore:
Â
How can I separate the two faces but still keep my cylinder walls as one position?
Thank you.
