Mechanical Free Play in Ansys

      Hey everyone,

Does Ansys offer any support for modeling mechanical free play that can occur, for example, in steering wheels? I assume that I need to incorporate some multibody functionality into my analysis, but I can't find any information on this.

      All advice is appreciated!

      Best regards, Tobi

These types of contact: Frictional, Frictionless and Rough can all simulate free play.  In addition, Joint types such as Revolute and Translational support hard stops at user defined limits of joint rotation or displacement.  These features can be in either a Rigid Dynamics (multibody) analysis or a Transient Structural analysis for flexible bodies.
